Recommendations: ads and extensions

When an ad counts as weak, how that rests on real performance, and which extensions are monitored.

Weak adsWhen an ad counts as weak

AdBuilder judges ads on their actual results, not on Google’s Ad Strength score. An ad counts as weak if there is enough data and it clearly lags behind: at least 200 impressions and 30 clicks, with a CTR below 80% of the ad group average, while it also does not convert better than the rest of the group.

In other words: the ad is clicked less often than its neighbors and does not make up for it with better conversions. Then it is time to improve it, possibly as an A/B test against the original.

AdsStronger and healthier

Besides weak ads, AdBuilder monitors the broader quality and status:

  • Ad groups without an active ad: create an ad.
  • Polish individual ad assets and unpin too many pinned assets.
  • Correct spelling errors and fix disapproved ads.

ExtensionsComplete and approved

Your extensions are monitored too: add missing sitelinks, callouts or structured snippets, and fix disapproved extensions or assets so your impressions stay on par.
